Indonesia eVisa vs ITK vs Arrival Card: Which Document Do You Need?

Three white document icons labeled eVisa, ITK and Arrival with a visa document and Bali map on blue, illustrating their different immigration purposes.

An Indonesia eVisa, Izin Tinggal Kunjungan (ITK), and All Indonesia Arrival Card are three different immigration documents. An eVisa is related to your visa approval, an ITK records your authorized visit stay in Indonesia, and an Arrival Card is a declaration completed for entry into the country.

These documents are not interchangeable.

If you are applying for a visa extension and your visa agent requests your current ITK, sending your All Indonesia Arrival Card QR code will not replace the requested stay permit information.

However, not every traveler needs to provide the same documents for an extension. Requirements depend on your visa category and how you entered Indonesia.

If you cannot identify the correct document, Visa BaliEasy can help review your available immigration records before asking you to submit anything else.

Indonesia Immigration Documents at a Glance

Document Purpose When it is relevant
eVisa / eVOA Electronic visa issued for an eligible entry and purpose of visit Before traveling and when presenting visa information
ITK / e-ITK Visit Stay Permit recording authorized stay in Indonesia After entry, during your permitted stay, and when extending an eligible permit
All Indonesia Arrival Card Digital declaration for immigration, customs, health, and quarantine Before arriving in Indonesia
Entry Record / Tanda Masuk Official immigration record of your admission into Indonesia When confirming entry and permitted stay information

Although these documents may contain similar information, such as your name, passport number, or arrival details, each serves a different purpose.

An eVisa is an electronic visa issued through Indonesia’s immigration system.

Depending on the visa category, you may receive an eVisa before traveling to Indonesia. Common examples include:

  • B1 Electronic Visa on Arrival (eVOA)
  • C1 Single Entry Tourist Visa
  • D1 Multiple Entry Tourist Visa

An issued eVisa generally contains information such as your identity, passport details, visa category, visa validity, and permitted activities or stay conditions.

However, an approved visa is not the same as confirmation that you have entered Indonesia or that your current stay remains valid.

Your entry into Indonesia is still subject to immigration checks.

Visa Validity Is Different from Your Permitted Stay

The validity of a visa may refer to the period during which you can use it to enter Indonesia.

Your authorized stay after entry is determined by the applicable immigration permission and stay conditions.

For example, an approved eVOA may remain valid for entry for a specified period after issuance, but your initial 30-day permitted stay is calculated from your actual arrival.

This is why checking an eVisa approval date alone is not always enough to determine when your current stay expires. See our visa validity and current stay permit check guide for that distinction.

ITK: Your Indonesia Visit Stay Permit

ITK stands for Izin Tinggal Kunjungan, or Visit Stay Permit.

It is the immigration permission associated with an authorized temporary visit to Indonesia.

When a foreign national enters Indonesia with an eligible visit visa, the entry authorization also establishes the relevant visit stay permission under Indonesian immigration law.

Electronic ITK records may be available through the official eVisa system.

Your stay permit information is particularly important when you want to extend an existing visit. The Directorate General of Immigration’s ITK guidance explains which visit permissions can be extended and the applicable stay limits.

Why Your Visa Agent May Ask for an ITK

For certain Visit Stay Permit extension applications, immigration offices list both the eVisa and electronic ITK among the supporting documents.

For example, the Jakarta Barat Immigration Office lists the eVisa and electronic ITK separately for certain ITK extension procedures.

It also lists different document requirements for extensions originating from Visa on Arrival categories.

This means you should not assume that every extension application requires the same combination of documents.

If Visa BaliEasy requests your ITK, our team may need to verify your current authorized stay, expiry date, or immigration record.

If you only have your original eVisa, let the team know rather than sending an unrelated document.

Not Every Traveler Receives the Same ITK Document

You may not remember receiving a separate ITK PDF after entering Indonesia.

The format and availability of your electronic immigration records can depend on the entry and stay permit procedure used.

For example, someone who applied for an eVOA through an agency may have their initial visa document saved under the agency’s application account.

Another traveler who obtained a VOA at the airport may not have the same original eVisa email.

Not having a separate ITK PDF does not automatically mean you lack a valid stay permit.

Your actual immigration status should be checked against the relevant official record.

All Indonesia Arrival Card: Your Entry Declaration

The All Indonesia Arrival Card is the integrated declaration used for international arrivals by air or sea, including arrivals in Bali. Follow the current official instructions for your route and checkpoint.

It combines information previously collected through separate immigration arrival, customs, health, and quarantine declarations.

Travelers complete the declaration through the official All Indonesia website or its mobile application.

The declaration can be completed from three days before arrival through the day of arrival. The official All Indonesia FAQ published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that filling the declaration is free of charge.

After submission, travelers receive a confirmation containing a QR code.

An Arrival Card Does Not Replace Your Visa or ITK

The All Indonesia Arrival Card is not a visa approval.

It also does not establish your authorized period of stay.

For example, if you submit an Arrival Card stating that you intend to stay in Bali for 60 days, this does not automatically grant permission to remain in Indonesia for 60 days.

Your permitted stay depends on the immigration permission actually granted.

Similarly, completing an Arrival Card does not extend your existing visa or stay permit.

If your visa agent requests an ITK for an extension, the Arrival Card QR code cannot be treated as proof that your stay permit is eligible for extension.

For instructions on completing and retrieving your declaration, read our All Indonesia Arrival Card Guide.

Entry Record / Tanda Masuk: Proof That You Entered Indonesia

A Tanda Masuk is the official admission record associated with your entry into Indonesia. Depending on the entry procedure, the evidence may include a passport endorsement or an electronic record. A visa issued before travel and a declaration submitted before arrival do not by themselves prove that you were admitted.

If your passport has no visible entry stamp, do not assume that the entry was not recorded. Ask the team handling your case which electronic record or other proof is needed.

How to Identify the Document Your Visa Agent Requested

If you receive an email asking for immigration documents but cannot identify which file is needed, first check the document name and purpose.

If You Are Asked for an eVisa

Look for your original visa approval document, usually issued before your trip.

Check the email address used for the visa application, your application confirmation, and any files sent by the agency that processed your visa.

If you used a visa agent, the document may have been delivered by that agent rather than directly to your personal email.

If You Are Asked for an ITK or Current Stay Permit

Look for your current Visit Stay Permit or the relevant electronic immigration record associated with your entry.

You can check the official Indonesia eVisa portal.

If you cannot find the document, do not assume that your original eVisa or Arrival Card is an acceptable substitute.

Instead, ask the team handling your extension to confirm what information is needed.

For a detailed walkthrough, read Can’t Find Your eVOA or Current Stay Permit? How to Extend Your Bali Visa.

If You Are Asked for an Arrival Card

Look for the confirmation or QR code issued after you submitted your All Indonesia declaration.

If the confirmation is missing, use the official Arrival Card retrieval service to locate your submission.

You do not need to apply for a new visa just because your Arrival Card QR code is missing.

If You Are Asked for Proof of Entry

Your visa agent may be asking for an entry record or Tanda Masuk, rather than your original visa approval.

This information is used to establish when you entered Indonesia and may help verify the stay permission associated with your arrival.

Ask your agent to clarify the requested document if the instructions only say “visa” without specifying which record they need.

A Real Customer Inquiry Received by Visa BaliEasy

Visa BaliEasy received an inquiry from a traveler preparing for an Indonesia visa extension who could not identify the ITK document requested by the team.

The customer was able to locate an Arrival Card but could not find the corresponding Visit Stay Permit.

Several messages concerned the missing ITK, creating confusion because the customer believed the available arrival documentation might be sufficient.

The Visa BaliEasy team later offered to help check the missing ITK information.

The available case history also records the customer proceeding with biometric-related steps, but it does not establish that the original ITK document was successfully retrieved.

This case illustrates a common problem: a customer may have the correct immigration status but still be unable to identify which electronic document the visa agent is requesting.

Instead of repeatedly asking for the same file, the next step should be to clarify the document type and check whether the relevant immigration record can be located.

Documents Needed for a Visa Extension

The documents required for a visa extension depend on the type of visit permission you currently hold.

VOA and eVOA Extensions

An eligible B1 VOA or eVOA generally allows an initial stay of 30 days and one extension of another 30 days.

Your extension application is based on the immigration permission granted for your current entry.

If you cannot locate your original eVOA or ITK, Visa BaliEasy can help check whether your existing immigration record is available and whether your stay is eligible for extension.

Already in Indonesia on an eligible B1 permit? Review the VOA/eVOA extension service to see what to prepare for your current stay. For a future trip, check the Indonesia eVOA application requirements before arranging a new entry.

C1 Tourist Visa Extensions

A C1 Tourist Visa generally allows an initial stay of 60 days, with up to two approved extensions of 60 days each.

For a C1 extension, the required immigration documents and sponsor-related information may differ from those used for an eVOA extension.

If an ITK or another immigration record is requested, confirm the exact requirement before submitting an unrelated file.

If you currently hold a C1 permit, review the C1 extension requirements and sponsorship arrangements before sending your documents. If you are still planning your trip, check the C1 Tourist Visa application requirements for a new visit.

Getting Help When You Cannot Find the Requested Document

If Visa BaliEasy requests an eVisa, ITK, or another immigration document that you cannot locate, contact our team rather than repeatedly submitting the same incorrect file.

Start by explaining:

  1. Which document you were asked to provide.
  2. Which documents you currently have.
  3. Your current visa category, if known.
  4. Whether your original visa was arranged by Visa BaliEasy, another agent, or yourself.
  5. Whether your current stay permit is approaching expiry.

You do not need to locate every missing document before contacting us.

Our team can review your circumstances and explain what information is needed to check the relevant immigration record.

If your permit is close to expiry, mention the date immediately so the team can assess the urgency of your request. Read what to do when a Bali visa extension deadline is approaching to understand why a missing document or an agency order does not automatically give you extra time to stay.

For privacy and security, share passport and other sensitive documents only through the appropriate official support channels, not public comments.

FAQ: eVisa, ITK and Arrival Card

Is my Arrival Card the same as my ITK?

No. The Arrival Card records your declaration for arrival; an ITK concerns your authorized visit stay. A declaration QR cannot replace a requested stay permit record.

Does an approved eVisa show that I have entered Indonesia?

No. A pre-travel visa approval is different from the admission record and stay permission associated with your actual entry.

What should I send if I cannot find the requested ITK?

Tell the team which document is missing and which files you have. Include your visa category if known, who arranged the application and whether expiry is close. Use a private support channel for identity documents; do not substitute an unrelated Arrival Card.

Do I need to pay for another extension just because a document is missing?

A missing file alone is not a reason to buy a second extension. Have the existing permit and application checked first. Whether any service or government fee is needed depends on the actual case and stage of processing.
