Eligibility Requirements
To apply for a Remote Worker ITAS E33G from inside Indonesia, you generally need to meet these requirements:
- You are currently in Indonesia with a valid VOA, eVOA, or another eligible stay permit.
- Your current stay permit has enough remaining validity for the conversion process.
- You are not overstaying.
- You work remotely for a company established outside Indonesia.
- You do not work for an Indonesian company.
- You do not receive salary, wages, or compensation from an Indonesian company.
- You can show proof of income or salary of at least USD 60,000 per year.
- You have an employment agreement with a company established outside Indonesia.
- You have proof of living expenses during your stay in Indonesia.
- Your passport is valid for at least 6 months.
- Your documents are complete, clear, and consistent with the purpose of the visa.
Your case must be checked before submission because not every stay permit status can be processed in the same way. If your VOA or eVOA is already close to expiry, your options may be more limited.
Required Documents
The documents for a Remote Worker ITAS E33G generally include:
- Valid passport with at least 6 months validity
- Current visa or stay permit
- Entry stamp or arrival record
- Recent color photo taken within the last year
- Bank statement for the last 3 months
- Proof of living expenses with a minimum balance of USD 2,000 or equivalent
- Bank account showing income or salary of at least USD 60,000 per year
- Employment agreement with a company established outside Indonesia
- Curriculum vitae
- Travel itinerary
- Address in Indonesia
- Other supporting documents requested during document review
The bank statement can be under the foreign applicant’s name or, where applicable, under the guarantor’s name. However, the Remote Worker ITAS E33G itself does not require a sponsor or guarantor.
Step-by-Step Conversion Process
1. Check Your Current Stay Permit
The first step is to check your current visa or stay permit, expiry date, passport validity, nationality, and entry record.
This is important because the conversion process depends on your immigration status at the time of application. If your stay permit is too close to expiry, you may need a different strategy.
For onshore conversion, BaliEasy recommends starting the process with at least 30 days of validity remaining on your current VOA or eVOA.
2. Review Your Remote Worker Documents
Before submitting the application, your documents should be reviewed carefully.
The most important documents are your passport, current stay permit, bank statement, income proof, employment agreement, CV, and itinerary.
Document details must be consistent. For example, your employment agreement should clearly show that the company is established outside Indonesia, and your income proof should support the minimum income requirement.
3. Confirm Eligibility for Onshore Conversion
After reviewing your documents, BaliEasy will check whether your case can be processed from inside Indonesia.
If your case is eligible, the conversion process can begin. If your case is not suitable for onshore conversion, our team will advise the safest alternative based on your visa validity, travel plan, and immigration status.
4. Prepare and Submit the Application
Once your documents are ready, the application will be prepared and submitted through the correct immigration process.
For official visa applications, the general process includes checking the completeness of requirements, verifying immigration fee payment, creating and verifying the applicant profile, approval, and visa issuance.
5. Complete Payment and Immigration Verification
After submission, the application will go through payment and immigration verification.
The official processing time for visa issuance is 5 working days after the visa payment is received. However, for an onshore conversion from tourist stay permit to ITAS, the overall handling process usually takes around 4 weeks because it may involve additional document checking and immigration procedures.
6. Wait for Approval
During the review period, immigration may request additional documents or clarification.
You should remain in Indonesia, keep your stay permit valid, and avoid waiting until the last few days before expiry. If additional documents are requested, delays can happen if the applicant cannot provide them quickly.
7. Receive Your Remote Worker ITAS E33G
Once approved, you will receive your Remote Worker ITAS E33G.
This permit allows you to stay in Indonesia for up to 1 year while carrying out remote work duties for a company outside Indonesia. The permit can be extended online through evisa.imigrasi.go.id.
What You Can Do with a Remote Worker ITAS E33G
With a Remote Worker ITAS E33G, you can stay in Indonesia to perform work duties for a company outside Indonesia.
As long as your Re-Entry Permit remains valid, you are allowed to enter and exit Indonesia. You can also do tourism-related activities and visit friends or family while staying in Indonesia.
This makes the Remote Worker ITAS suitable for remote employees, digital nomads with formal overseas employment, and foreigners who want to live in Indonesia while working for a foreign company.
Type of Visa
The Remote Worker ITAS E33G is a Limited Stay Visa.
This type of visa allows you to enter Indonesia and stay for a specific period. It also allows you to enter and exit Indonesia within the permitted period, as long as the Re-Entry Permit remains valid.
The stay permit from this visa can be extended and may be changed to another stay permit type if eligible under immigration rules.
Length of Stay
The Remote Worker ITAS E33G allows you to stay in Indonesia for 1 year.
The stay permit can be extended online through evisa.imigrasi.go.id.
Please note that the validity of the visa is different from the length of stay. The visa validity refers to the period when the visa can be used to enter Indonesia, while the stay period refers to how long you are allowed to stay after the permit is active.
Visa Validity
The visa is valid for 90 days from the date it is issued.
If the visa is not used within this period, the foreign applicant must apply for a new visa to enter Indonesia.
For applications used to enter Indonesia from outside the country, the Limited Stay Permit and Re-Entry Permit will be issued automatically after the foreigner is allowed to enter by the immigration officer at the immigration checkpoint.
For onshore conversion cases, the applicable immigration process may be different, so your case should be reviewed first.
Government Fees
The official government fee, or PNBP, for the Remote Worker ITAS E33G with 1 year stay is Rp7,000,000.
The fee components include (source: Official Immigration website):
- Limited Stay Visa: Rp500,000
- Visa Verification Fee Category II: Rp2,000,000
- Limited Stay Permit up to 1 year: Rp3,000,000
- Re-Entry Permit up to 1 year: Rp1,500,000
These are government fees only. They do not include BaliEasy service fees, handling fees, document checking, or conversion assistance fees.
BaliEasy Service Fee
At Visa BaliEasy, the Remote Worker Visa service starts from USD 990.
For Tourist Visa to ITAS conversion, the BaliEasy handling fee is IDR 3,500,000.
The total cost can depend on your current visa status, document condition, urgency, and whether additional handling is needed.
Prices may change before this article is updated. Please contact our team first to confirm the latest price for your case.
Sponsor Requirement
You do not need a sponsor or guarantor to apply for the Remote Worker ITAS E33G.
This is different from many other Indonesian visas that require a guarantor, company sponsor, or Indonesian individual sponsor.
However, even though no sponsor is required, the applicant must still meet the document and eligibility requirements, including proof of income and an employment agreement with a company outside Indonesia.
Application Account
To apply for this visa, you must have an account at evisa.imigrasi.go.id.
After creating an account, the applicant can submit the visa application by logging in and uploading the required electronic files in PDF or JPEG format.
If you are applying through BaliEasy, our team can help guide the document preparation and application process based on your case.
What You Cannot Do with Remote Worker ITAS E33G
With a Remote Worker ITAS E33G, you are not allowed to:
- Stay in Indonesia longer than your permitted stay period
- Work in a way that does not match your stay permit
- Work for an Indonesian company
- Receive salary from an Indonesian company
- Sell goods or services in Indonesia, unless the activity is required for your permitted work
- Use the visa for activities that are not aligned with the remote worker purpose
If your work involves Indonesian clients, local business activities, local employment, or payment from an Indonesian company, you may need a different visa or stay permit.
Why You Should Not Wait Until Your VOA Almost Expires
The conversion process takes time. If you wait until the last few days of your VOA or eVOA, there may not be enough time to review your documents and submit the application properly.
You should start checking your eligibility as early as possible, especially if:
- Your VOA or eVOA is expiring soon
- You have already extended your VOA
- You want to stay in Bali for more than 60 days
- You are working remotely from Indonesia
- You want to avoid overstay
- You are unsure whether you need to leave Indonesia first
Starting early gives you more options and reduces the risk of immigration problems.
Can BaliEasy Help?
Yes. Visa BaliEasy can help check whether your VOA or eVOA can be converted to a Remote Worker ITAS E33G from inside Indonesia.
Our team can review your current stay permit, remaining validity, passport, employment documents, income proof, bank statement, and other requirements before advising the next step.
If your case is eligible, BaliEasy can assist with the conversion process and Remote Worker ITAS application.

Final Thoughts
VOA and eVOA holders can convert to a Remote Worker ITAS E33G from inside Indonesia if the case is eligible and there is enough time left on the current stay permit.
The safest approach is to start the process with at least 30 days of validity remaining, prepare the required documents early, and confirm your eligibility before your visa is close to expiry.
Visa BaliEasy can help review your case and guide you through the correct process.
