Indonesia Multiple Entry Tourist Visa Extension (D1)

D1 Visa Extension processing time after document submission: 5 working days.

Maximum extension: two times per visit. Each extension grants an additional 60 days of stay.

You can extend your Indonesia Multiple Entry Visit Visa (D1) to continue your stay legally without exiting Indonesia.

Each extension provides an additional 60 days of stay, allowing a maximum total stay of 180 days per entry.

This extension applies to all D1 visa types, including D1 1-Year, D1 2-Year, and D1 5-Year visas. The extension duration and rules are identical.

D1 Visa Extension duration and limits

Each D1 visa holder may extend their stay under the following conditions:

  • Initial stay upon entry: 60 days
  • First extension: additional 60 days
  • Second extension: additional 60 days
  • Maximum total stay per entry: 180 days

After reaching the 180-day limit, you must exit Indonesia. You may re-enter Indonesia to receive a new stay period if your D1 visa is still valid.

When you need a D1 visa extension

You need a D1 visa extension if:

  • You wish to stay longer than your current permitted stay period
  • Your current stay permit will expire soon
  • You want to continue staying in Indonesia without exiting and re-entering

Applying before your current stay expires ensures uninterrupted legal stay.

Application timeline and immigration requirement

The extension process can begin 10 days before your current stay expires.

A personal visit to the Immigration Office is required for biometric capture (photo and fingerprints). This is mandatory for all visa extensions.

We will:

  • Prepare and submit your extension application
  • Schedule your Immigration Office appointment
  • Inform you of the appointment date and location
  • Guide you through the faster process

Processing time begins after complete document submission and biometric completion.

Important D1 visa extension rules

FAQs

My D1 stay expires tomorrow. Can I still extend it today?+

Yes. We can assist with priority last-minute D1 visa extensions. As long as all required documents are submitted correctly and payment is completed at least one day before (D-1) your stay expiry, you can avoid overstay fines.

If your stay has already expired, Indonesian Immigration applies an overstay fine of IDR 1,000,000 per day. Contact us immediately so we can advise the best solution.

Why should I use Visa BaliEasy for my D1 visa extension?+

Using visa agency like Visa BaliEasy saves you time and avoids unnecessary stress.

We place your application on the priority list, which means shorter queue times at the Immigration Office compared to walk-in applications.

We also ensure your documents are prepared and submitted correctly, so the process is completed faster.

How many times can I extend my D1 visa?+

You may extend your D1 stay a maximum of two times per entry.

Each extension grants 60 additional days.

This means:

  • Initial stay: 60 days
  • First extension: +60 days
  • Second extension: +60 days
  • Maximum stay per entry: 180 days

After reaching 180 days, you must exit Indonesia. You may re-enter if your D1 visa is still valid.

Can I extend my D1 visa after the first extension?+

Yes. You may extend your D1 visa twice per entry.

Many travelers extend once initially, then extend again later to reach the full 180-day stay limit.

We can assist with both the first and second extensions.

Do D1 1-Year, 2-Year, and 5-Year visas have the same extension rules?+

Yes. The extension rules are identical for all D1 visa types.

For all D1 visas:

  • Each extension grants 60 days
  • Maximum extensions: two times per entry
  • Maximum stay per entry: 180 days

The only difference is the visa validity period, which determines how long you can continue entering Indonesia.

Can I stay longer by extending, or do I need to exit Indonesia?+

Both options are legal.

You may:

  • Extend your stay inside Indonesia (up to 180 days total), or
  • Exit Indonesia and re-enter to receive a new stay period

Extending inside Indonesia is generally safer and more predictable, because:

  • You avoid flight costs and travel time
  • You avoid re-entry uncertainty
  • You maintain continuous legal stay

Re-entry approval is always at the discretion of Immigration.

Is an Immigration Office visit required for D1 visa extension?+

Yes. All D1 extensions require an in-person visit to the Immigration Office for:

  • Photo capture
  • Fingerprints (biometrics)

Starting June 2025, this visit is mandatory for all visa and stay permit extensions under Circular Letter No. IMI-417.GR.01.01/2025.

Visa BaliEasy will schedule the appointment, inform you of the date and location, and guide you through the process.

When should I apply for my D1 visa extension?+

You should apply at least 10–14 days before your current stay expires.

This ensures sufficient processing time and avoids overstay risk.

Applying early also allows flexibility in scheduling your Immigration appointment.

Do I need a sponsor to extend my D1 visa?+

Yes. Indonesian Immigration requires a sponsor for D1 visa extensions.

If your original D1 visa was issued with Visa BaliEasy as your sponsor, we will handle the extension process.

If you used a different sponsor, the same sponsor is typically required.

Visa BaliEasy can also assist with sponsor support if needed, subject to Immigration requirements.
