Planning your first trip to Bali? Before you pack your bags, check whether you need to pay the Bali Tourist Levy and save your levy voucher for the trip.
Introduced on 14 February 2024, the levy is IDR 150,000 per eligible foreign tourist. Exemptions apply to certain categories. You can pay cashlessly through the official Love Bali system before your trip; official payment counters are also available at Bali airports and ports.
This guide from Visa BaliEasy explains how to pay it correctly, what to prepare, and how to avoid common mistakes, so you can arrive in Bali worry-free.
What Is the Bali Tourist Levy?
The Bali Tourist Levy (also called the Bali Tourism Tax) is a contribution required from foreign visitors.
It was introduced by the Bali Provincial Government to support:
- Cultural preservation (temples, traditions, and art)
- Environmental protection (beaches, nature, and marine life)
- Tourism infrastructure and safety
It’s a small but meaningful contribution that helps keep Bali beautiful and sustainable for future generations.
The official Love Bali FAQ says the levy is paid once while travelling in Bali before leaving Indonesia. Extending the same visit does not by itself mean paying the levy again. For island trips and a later return, check our Bali levy re-entry guide against your itinerary.
Important: The Bali Tourist Levy is not the same as the All Indonesia Arrival Card.
Even if you’ve paid the Bali levy, you must still complete the All Indonesia Arrival Card
separately before arrival.
How Much Is the Tourist Levy?
- Amount: IDR 150,000 per eligible foreign tourist; foreign-currency equivalents vary
- Who must pay: Foreign tourists entering Bali, unless an applicable exemption covers them
- When: Before or upon arrival in Bali
- Frequency: Once while travelling in Bali before leaving Indonesia, according to the official FAQ
How to Pay the Bali Tourist Levy Online (Recommended)
Open the official Love Bali website. Prepare passports, your arrival date, an accessible email address and a supported payment method. Check exemptions before paying.
Single and Group use different forms. Follow the complete route that matches your travel party below. Screenshots were captured on 1 November 2026. The sample details are fictional and do not show a completed payment.

| Choose | Form you should see | Follow this guide |
|---|---|---|
| Single | Tourist Levy Form: one Your Identity section, with payment methods alongside | Single payment steps |
| Group | Pay Levy as Group: arrival date and a separate record for each traveller | Group payment steps |
How to Pay the Bali Tourist Levy for One Person (Single)
- Select Single on the homepage. Then choose Pay Tourist Levy. This opens the Tourist Levy Form for one traveller.
- Complete Your Identity. Enter First/Given Names, Last Name (Surname), Email, Passport Number and Country as shown on your passport. Select your country from the suggestions and choose Arrival Date (DD/MM/YYYY) using the date picker.
- Choose the payment method in the same Single form. At review, this form displayed a card option, BPD Bali Channel, Bank Transfer and QRIS. Check current availability, the amount, exchange rate and any bank/provider charges.
- Review and submit your own accurate details. Read the terms and privacy notice; the form says that clicking Submit agrees to the terms. Follow the payment provider’s instructions, then save the receipt and invoice number.
- Save your levy voucher. After successful payment, check the email entered in this Single form for your QR voucher, including spam and junk folders.

The distinguishing feature is one traveller’s identity beside the payment options. This is not the multi-traveller Group page. For passport names that do not fit the fields, consult the official Name Guidelines rather than inventing a surname.
How to Pay the Bali Tourist Levy for Several People (Group)
- Select Group on the homepage. Then choose Pay Tourist Levy. This opens the separate Pay Levy as Group page.
- Set the group’s Arrival Date. This field appears above the traveller records.
- Fill First Tourist Detail and each additional Tourist Detail. For every traveller, enter their own given names, surname, email, passport number and country. The page allows the same email address for all traveller records and says the first tourist receives the invoice.
- Add and check the remaining travellers. Use Add More Tourist if needed. Check every name and passport number against the correct passport before selecting Continue to Payment.
- Follow the group payment instructions. Review the amount and payment options shown after continuing, complete payment, and retain the invoice and confirmation. Do not assume the next screen is identical to the Single form shown above.
- Keep a voucher for each traveller. Group payment does not make one person’s QR code cover the whole party. Organise the correct voucher for each person after payment.

The distinguishing feature is multiple traveller records on a separate page. Unlike Single, payment choices are not beside one Your Identity section at this stage; the Group page provides Continue to Payment after the traveller details. Cruise-agent group arrangements have further guidance in the official FAQ.
Demonstration scope: Visa BaliEasy checked both forms without submitting them. The Group payment screen after Continue to Payment and a successful-payment screen are not pictured here.
After Payment: Save Your QR Voucher
For either route, check the registered email, including spam and junk, for the Levy Voucher with a QR code. Save an offline copy on your phone or print it and keep it available during your trip. A bank transaction screenshot is not automatically the official levy voucher. Retain the receipt and invoice number too.
If a payment error appears, check the transaction before trying again. An error does not prove no money was taken.
Paid but did not receive the levy voucher?
Use the official Resend Levy Voucher page. It asks for the invoice number from the payment receipt, passport number and an email address to receive the voucher. Use the actual details of your paid transaction.

If the record cannot be found or payment remains unclear, contact Love Bali support before paying again.

Can I Pay the Levy at the Airport?
Yes. The official Love Bali FAQ lists cashless payment counters at Bali airports and ports. It also lists registered endpoints, such as participating hotels, travel agents and tourist attractions.
Paying online before departure is recommended to make arrival easier. Follow local signage or ask official staff for the current counter location and accepted methods.
What Happens If You Don’t Pay the Bali Tourist Levy?
If you are already in Bali and have not paid, settle the outstanding levy through the official system unless a valid exemption covers you. Keep the resulting voucher available for checks. Not paying does not remove the obligation.
See our separate guide for travellers who forgot to pay the Bali tourist levy. The levy is separate from your visa and arrival declaration.
Visa BaliEasy tip: Paying before departure gives you time to resolve email or payment issues.
Who Is Exempt from the Levy?
The levy is for foreign tourists; Indonesian citizens are outside that category. The official FAQ lists exemptions for:
- Diplomatic and official visa holders
- Transport crew members
- KITAS or KITAP holders
- Family-unification and student visa holders
- Golden Visa holders and qualifying holders of other visas, subject to the applicable process
Procedures differ: the FAQ says the first listed categories show their relevant documents to the officer, while Golden Visa and other-visa exemption applications go through Love Bali. Do not assume every exempt category must file the same application.
Read our guide to who pays and who is exempt and confirm current instructions in the official FAQ and Apply Exemption route before travel.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Confusing an official payment with a private service — use Love Bali directly, or verify any collecting agent against the official partner list
- Entering the wrong email address — you won’t receive your QR code
- Forgetting to save or print your QR code
- Confusing group payments — enter every traveller’s details and keep each voucher; Group payment is available
💡 Tip from Visa BaliEasy: Always double-check your passport number and email before payment to avoid delays.
